Initial Training & Behavior Consultation

What is the Initial Training & Behavior Consultation (ITBC)?

Our Initial Training & Behavior Consultation (ITBC) is an active, working session, up to 2.5 hours. We start helping you make important changes in how you live, and communicate, with your dog. In this session, we will cover things like:

  • Leash handling skills

  • Daily routines

  • How to use verbal cues and body language effectively

  • Mental and physical exercise needs

  • Safety protocols for everyday living, like threshold manners and household boundaries with resources

  • Introductory training skills

  • Problem-solving engagement games.

This session will help you reset and revamp your relationship with your dog. During this session, we will help you better understand the root of any behavioral concerns. For some, this session is all they need because they get the guidance - that missing piece of the puzzle - to help them make changes and move forward. For others, there may still be work to be done for peaceful living and to achieve the goals you have in mind. If you need more, we will work with you to design a custom behavior modification action plan to support you in building the relationship and life you dream of with your dog.

Included with your ITBC:

  • Our Best Life Canine Pet Parent eBook

  • Up to 3 additional training guides

  • Training and Wellness Handbook

  • Follow-up with Customized Training Plan Outline

  • Discount on future training enrollment and online training guides

Who is it for?

Everyone in need of guidance and help with their dog. Puppies, general obedience, behavior modification, specific trouble areas, etc. This session can be the key to resolving issues for you and your dog. Some find they just are not quite sure where to begin, or if they are doing the training correctly on their own. During the ITBC we can help you improve your training skills so you can continue on your training path with confidence and reassurance that you have the hang of it. Others might not be sure where to begin with training or what they want their goals to be. If that sounds like you, this unique working session will provide you with more information about how to train your dog, what they need, what to expect, how to decide on your goals, and behavioral issues you are unclear about. We will also help you use all of that feedback and active training time to know if you want more assistance through a formal training program; as well as what level of assistance will benefit you the most.

The ITBC is also a great way to get to know more about what we can do for you and your dog. It can be difficult to decide on a Trainer or Training Program. The ITBC allows us to come get to know you and your dog, and offer training help right away. This is not your run-of-the-mill "meet & greet" session or evaluation. We get to work! That means you can see how we work with your dog, with you, and we can evaluate how your dog works with us. By getting to know them better through training activities, we can craft an ideal action plan for you. And if that happens to involve continuing to work with us - well, we look forward to it! But if not, we are confident what we accomplish in this session will provide a big piece of the help you are seeking.

Do you just talk and tell us we need training? Is it a sales pitch?

Not at all. The ITBC is an active, working session - meaning we work with your dog and have you work with your dog while we are there. We introduce you and your dog to foundational training concepts and everyday essentials. This work will help you and your dog move forward with more clarity and give you homework right away to see change. We follow-up your ITBC with an action plan so you can keep up the work on your own, and you have the option to schedule a 30 minute check-in call about 2 weeks after the ITBC. If you want to learn more about the training programs and continue working with us, we will share those options and answer your questions. There is no obligation to continue more training with us after the ITBC. We would love to keep working with you, but we do not want to enroll anyone in a larger program if that is simply not what they need or want. We know our ITBC can help and make a difference for you, so let's just start there.

How much does the ITBC cost?

The ITBC starts at $225. If there are multiple dogs in the home, each dog is an additional $47. Because each dog in the home influences the everyday dynamics, we will evaluate everyone included in the home and add details to the action plan accordingly. This takes extra planning and time for the Trainer. This intensive, working session kicks things in to gear for you and your dog. If you are a Rescue Organization, or have adopted your dog from an animal shelter, please inquire about our available discounts. We also offer a discount for Veterans, Students, Teachers, EMS, Fire, Law Enforcement. Proof of Rescue, Shelter, occupation/student required to receive discount. Inquire for discount details.
